My passion for all things weddings & events
My name is Ema Smith, and I'm an aspiring event planner & florist from Huntsville, Alabama. I fell in love with the hospitality and event planning industry at a young age - four years old to be exact - when I participated in a wedding as a flower girl. Next thing you know, I was begging the church to let me volunteer on the hospitality committee when I was just five years old.
Why I chose to major in Event Management at Auburn University
If there's one thing you should know about me, it's that I have been a devoted Swiftie since 2007. Ironically enough, the only reason my entire family became Auburn fans is because of Taylor Swift (shhh they don't know that... because I'm a mastermind). My family was never big into sports, so when I declared myself as an Auburn fan, everybody followed along. Both my older and younger brothers chose to attend Auburn because of me, so if it weren't for a few Auburn students who created the "Hug From Taylor Swift" challenge and successfully got Taylor to perform a surprise concert at The Hotel at Auburn University, who knows where my siblings and I would have ended up?
I originally majored in Business when I first came to college with the goal of becoming a small business owner of a boutique clothing store in my hometown. However, that girl was scared to dream big and didn't quite know how to incorporate her craftiness into her future career.
It wasn't until the end of my first semester at Auburn that I realized I was not meant to be an average nine-to-fiver when my business professor told me I was in the wrong major and suggested that I would be a great wedding planner. I spontaneously switched gears in April 2022 when I saw the blueprints for the Rane Culinary Science Center and discovered that my school offered an Event Management track.
My Professional Goals
I am still undecided about whether I want to aim for concerts or weddings, but nevertheless, I am shooting for the stars and pursuing both avenues with ambition. For the upcoming year, my short-term goals are:

Graduate Summa Cum Laude from Auburn University.
